Terms, Code of Conduct & Legal Statement¶
Version 2026-06-13. Read this before you begin, and again before you request your certificate. Obtaining a Cortex University credential requires your explicit acceptance of these terms in the learner portal.
Preamble — what Cortex University is¶
Cortex University is a real educational program: a structured, assessed curriculum that teaches the theory and practice of modern AI systems from first principles. It is not a government-accredited institution, and its awards are not ECTS credits or any nationally/internationally recognized degree.
What the credential is: a genuine certification, valid within the standards of Cortex University, that the named holder demonstrated — on our assessments — a defined body of theoretical and practical AI knowledge. Its purpose is the part that actually matters: the knowledge.
What the credential is not: a guarantee of employment, a substitute for an accredited qualification, or a claim of equivalence to one. It does not by itself prove competence to any third party.
1. Nature of the credential¶
1.1 The certificate, transcript, and marks attest to performance on Cortex University's own quizzes and examinations at the time of issue.
1.2 The award is conferred under Cortex University's internal standards only. It carries no ECTS credits and no accreditation.
1.3 The knowledge a credential represents must be independently validated — in a job interview, technical assessment, or professional practice. The burden of verifying the holder's actual knowledge rests on the recipient of the credential (e.g. an employer), not on Cortex University.
2. Academic Code of Conduct¶
By studying with Cortex University you agree to uphold its values: honesty, rigor, and building real understanding rather than the appearance of it. You agree not to:
- submit work that is not your own, or present another's work as yours;
- use unauthorized assistance, answer keys, or automated systems to complete an assessment in a way the assessment's instructions prohibit;
- impersonate another person, or allow another person to complete assessments on your behalf;
- share, sell, or publish assessment answers in a way that undermines the integrity of the assessment for others;
- tamper with, forge, or alter any marks, transcript, certificate, or credential identifier.
Following the course requirements and assessment instructions for each phase is part of this code.
3. Student responsibility & declaration¶
3.1 You are solely and fully responsible for the integrity of your own work and for complying with this Code of Conduct.
3.2 When you accept these terms, you make the following declaration:
I declare that the work I submit to Cortex University is my own, completed honestly and in accordance with the Code of Conduct, and that any credential issued to me reflects knowledge I genuinely hold.
3.3 Cortex University relies on this declaration. It cannot and does not guarantee that it can verify or continuously track the authenticity of every student's work. A credential is issued in good faith on the basis of your declaration and your recorded results.
4. Limitations, disclaimers & liability¶
4.1 The curriculum, portal, marks, and credentials are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, including fitness for any particular purpose, recognition, or employment outcome.
4.2 Cortex University is not liable for any loss arising from reliance on a credential, including reliance by a third party who did not independently validate the holder's knowledge.
4.3 Cortex University is not responsible for, and disclaims all liability for, any cheating, misrepresentation, or breach of this Code of Conduct by a student. Responsibility for such conduct is the student's alone.
5. Consequences of breach¶
5.1 Any credential obtained through cheating, impersonation, or misrepresentation is void from the outset, whether or not the breach is discovered.
5.2 Forging, altering, or misrepresenting a Cortex University credential — for example presenting a void or fabricated certificate as genuine to an employer or other party — is a serious act of dishonesty that may expose the individual to civil or criminal liability under applicable law, in addition to revocation of any Cortex University standing.
5.3 Cortex University may revoke a credential and the associated marks if a breach comes to light.
6. Data & privacy¶
6.1 The personal data you submit (legal name, country, enrollment year, and an optional photo) is stored locally to issue your ID card, transcript, and certificate. It is not sold or shared.
6.2 You may update or remove this data at any time from your profile.
7. Acceptance¶
7.1 Acceptance is recorded in the learner portal, with a timestamp and the version of these terms. You may accept at any time; ideally you accept at enrollment, and you must have accepted (at the current version) before a certificate is issued.
7.2 If these terms are updated to a new version, you may be asked to accept the new version before a further credential is issued.
These terms govern your use of the Cortex University curriculum and portal. They are written plainly and in good faith; they are not legal advice. Where a provision is unenforceable in your jurisdiction, the remainder continues to apply.
